"Serenity.
A big word that often feels so small when the pressure gets loud. This painting is my silent protest against the constant urge to have to or want to be perfect - as a mother, as an artist, as a friend, colleague, daughter. Always performing, always functioning.

I paint because I want to feel, not because I have to be perfect.
And yet I still catch myself doubting myself, thinking: ‘Am I good enough?’

‘Serenity’ is my reminder that I don't have to control everything. That sometimes chaos is exactly the space in which beauty is created. That I give more to my child when I breathe and am there, instead of trying to make everything perfect. And that art doesn't have to be perfect to be genuinely touching.

This work is an invitation to let go of the pressure - and to be a little more loving towards yourself."

Mixed media on raw canvas.

The raw canvas is first primed with clear gesso. The finished work of art is sealed with fixative and varnish.
